Impact Update: 2025–2026 School Year

The 2025–2026 school year was a busy one for TIP.

Between celebrating our 35th anniversary year, launching our strategic plan, building powerful new partnerships, and expanding the early intervention program, it marked a pivotal moment in our organization’s history.

The numbers also reflect the growing impact of our staff, volunteers, and advocates’ tireless efforts. Here’s a look at the highlights!

Volunteers stepped up in a big way.

  • Volunteer attorneys donated 360 hours to defending children’s futures in truancy proceedings. That’s 100 more hours than the previous year!
  • Together, we assisted 47 new truancy clients. That’s 47 students who now have a dedicated advocate in their corner and a clear path forward.

Early intervention replaced punishment with encouragement.

  • 57 students participated in small-group workshops and other early intervention initiatives to build positive habits and understand the importance of school attendance.
  • Through programs like Lollipops for Learning, perfect-attendance raffles, and attendance celebrations, we rewarded and celebrated 2,859 students.

We continued to identify and remove barriers.

  • The holidays are financially challenging for many TIP families. Thanks to our dedicated volunteers and in-kind donors, we provided holiday gifts for 341 individuals.
  • We also assisted 138 households with necessities to ensure simple hardships didn’t stand in the way of their children’s education.

Families felt informed and empowered.

  • According to our annual family survey, 100% of families felt that they understood the impacts of absences and tardies.
  • 95% felt informed about their child’s attendance, while 82% felt empowered to communicate with school.

The impact will be felt far beyond individual students.

When more students access the education and stability they deserve, our neighborhoods are safer. Our workforce is more resilient. And Georgia communities are more prosperous.

With four new team members on board, we kicked off the 2026–2027 school year with momentum. With strong community partnerships, growing public awareness around absenteeism, and landmark state-level legislation, the tide is turning—and we are positioned to make our biggest impact yet.

We invite you to stay connected and engaged as we continue working to eliminate chronic absenteeism across Georgia!
