Every act of kindness helps us step in sooner, show up stronger, and support more kids.
In uncertain times, kids need something steady to hold onto. For some, a stable home provides that foundation. Not all are so fortunate.
Today, nearly half of U.S. families with children under six struggle to meet at least one basic need, like food and housing. As hardship rises, school becomes more than a place to learn. It’s a warm meal. A structured routine. Caring adults.
The painful irony is that the children who need this support system the most are often the ones missing from the classroom due to profound challenges at home. Chronic absenteeism becomes a sign that a child is trying to survive something bigger than the next math exam.
Since 1991, Truancy Intervention Project (TIP) Georgia has stepped in when attendance takes a turn, helping families navigate challenges, secure resources, and prevent legal consequences that deepen their struggles.
We aren’t working alone. Our mission is sustained by a community of advocates, volunteers, and supporters who believe every student deserves the chance to show up, succeed, and thrive.
Your gift helps TIP provide the steady hand students need:
So we can turn small wins into lasting success.
When attendance is celebrated, it sticks. Through outreach programs like Lollipops for Learning, parent workshops, and school-based engagement, we help families understand why attendance matters—and show kids that their presence is noticed and valued.
📌 TIP distributed 795 “Lollipops for Learning” in 2025 to celebrate consistent attendance!
So we can support students at every stage.
Our early intervention model identifies and addresses the root causes of absenteeism before they snowball into long-term disengagement or legal involvement.
With your help, we’re embedding this model in seven APS and Fulton County elementary schools and expanding into middle schools, where early warning signs can quickly escalate. We’re also launching a Special Education Advocacy initiative to ensure students with IEPs or 504 plans have the support and legal protections they need to stay connected and thrive.
📌 In 2024–2025, TIP supported 107 early intervention cases, with students averaging 16 absences.
So we can replace punishment with possibility.
Too often, absenteeism is criminalized. But what struggling students and families need isn’t court dates. It’s compassion.
Through our unique model, students and families facing truancy charges receive free legal advocacy and holistic support that transforms crises into second chances.
📌 In 2024–2025, TIP supported 52 truancy cases, with students averaging 39 missed days.
So we can meet this moment and build momentum.
When Senate Bill 123 passed in 2025, it marked a turning point: Georgia officially recognized chronic absenteeism as a crisis that demands coordinated, statewide action.
But recognition alone isn’t enough. Addressing this issue takes experienced partners who know what works and can guide schools through meaningful implementation.
That’s where TIP comes in. We’re training attendance teams, developing tools, and walking alongside educators to turn a legislative mandate into real change for students.
📌 SB 123 requires schools to address chronic absenteeism but provides no implementation dollars.
So we can expand our impact across Georgia.
More than 31,000 students face chronic absenteeism in APS and Fulton County alone. Statewide, it’s nearly 1 in 5.
Through playbooks, dashboards, and partnerships, we’re scaling what works so that no matter where a student lives, they can access a proven support system.
📌 TIP has supported thousands of students and families across Georgia since 1991, with a success rate of up to 90%.
Together, we can turn missed days into second chances.
Every dollar you give helps TIP step in earlier, support families more holistically, and expand our reach to students across Georgia.
